Bases
It must be stressed that the information about alleged bases derives from secondary sources. However, in some instances a number of people have made identical or similar allegations about particular bases and the identity of ruling party officials allegedly involved. Additionally, monitors have independently confirmed some these allegations.

Harare
Budiriro 4
The surgery belonging to Dr Chenjerai Hunzvi in Budiriro 4 was used as a torture house and at many members of the MDC were taken there and tortured. The Forum has taken statements from six of the victims so far. One of those known to have been captured has since disappeared and the Forum has been unable to establish his whereabouts. One person, Mr Chipunza, died as a result of injuries inflicted by the militia based at the surgery. Others MDC members were injured in an attempt to raid the surgery and obtain the release of Chipunza. Boyd Ndlovu, a nurse from Bulawayo is one of those said to be a leading torturer at the surgery.

46 members of this militia were arrested after Chipunza’s murder, but they have since been released on bail.

Budiriro 1
There are reports that a gang is staying at the home of Zanu (PF) candidate Gladys Hokoyo and that opposition supporters have been beaten and abducted by them.

Mufakose
The Zanu (PF) candidate, Sabina Thembani, is said to be housing a gang at the party offices near the Gwonyambira bar. The people staying at the offices and accused of perpetrating violence against MDC supporters in Mufakose are Amon, Chimombe, Fari, Cobra, David Bachelors, Richard Kaphumbata, Manyebo, Chaplin, Bany Marokora.   TOP
