Violence by MDC Supporters against Zanu (PF) Supporters

In its compilation published on 11 June The Sunday Mail listed these incidents from February onwards:

On 25 March in Chivhu it is alleged that the MDC district chairman, Patrick Chifamba, armed MDC youths with brooms. The youths then attacked Zanu (PF) youths. Two MDC youths were arrested in connection with this incident. (No details are given of the injuries suffered.)

On 2 April in Chihota 150 MDC supporters attacked Zanu (PF) members at a bottle store.

On 8 April about 2000 MDC youths led by Mazowe East Constituency candidate Shepherd Mushonga destroyed property estimated at Z$ 200 000. The property included a council guesthouse, a truck belonging to Minister Chen Chimutengwende and another vehicle belonging to Aaron Kamundaya.

On 15 April MDC parliamentary candidate for Chikomba, John Chidyiwa assaulted Christopher Chishoka a Zanu (PF) youth member using his pistol resulting in the youth losing tooth.

On 26 April ten war veterans travelling in a vehicle were attacked by 40 MDC youths. The war veterans fled and the youths then severely damaged the truck.   TOP
