Contents « Part 1 Part 3 » Part 2 Daily News 02 August , 2000 Police have deployed officers to protect Geoffrey Nyarota, the Editor-in-Chief of The Daily News, after a plot hatched by the Central Intelligence Organisation (CIO) to assassinate him failed. The plot flopped when the hired assassin, Bernard Masara, 35, developed cold feet. Masara exposed the plot to Nyarota, implicating CIO operatives. Wayne Bvudzijena, the police spokesman, said on Monday, Nyarota had reported to the police that his life was under threat. Masara had told Nyarota about the plot on the same day. Bvudzijena said: "Officers were immediately mobilised to ensure his security. Investigations are in progress." TOP |
